Police in Blantyre have arrested Norfork International Schools Manager, Erican Chingeni aged 37, for allegedly issuing fake qualifications.

Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) Executive Director, Gerald Chiunda, has confirmed the development.

“We got a request from the National Council for Higher Education in Malawi (NCHE) for us to vet and give a conversion of a higher school diploma that Norfork International Schools had presented to two of its former students.

“We were doing this for the purposes of application for consideration of university selection; they had attached copies of that particular diploma, we went through it and realized that it is a fake qualification,” disclosed Chiunda.

The MANEB Executive Director warned against such malpractices saying it is unlawful.

“Other than MANEB, there is no any other institution that is mandated to issue qualification at schools level. It is a worrisome of the so-called international schools are indulging in these malpractices.

“It is a crime to be doing that. It’s unfortunate that this is come barely two weeks we discovered a similar incident at Bedir International Schools,” lamented Chiunda.

The development comes weeks after a Bedir International Schools Principal and Vice Principal were also nabbed for indulging in a similar malpractice.
