The government has identified a place near the Commonwealth Cemetery in Mangochi as the site for late Henry Masauko Chipembere’s monument.
He is one of the fallen heroes who fought against the one party rule oppression.
In December 2018, President Mutharika pledged to construct a monument for Chipembere.
Minister of Youth and Culture Francis Phiso visited the site as a sign of commitment to honour the presidential pledge.
Phiso described Chipembere as a true leader who had the welfare of the people of Mangochi and Malawi at heart.
