United Transformation Movement (UTM) President who is also the running-mate for Lazarus Chakwera, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President, Saulos Chilima has said the Tonse Alliance will carry the day on July 2.
Chilima who is also the state vice president said this in Ntcheu during a whistle-stop tour.
UTM leader added that the opposition alliance is geared to win the forthcoming elections regardless of the date which the elections will be held.
“We will vote on any day they want. Whether it’s June or 2 July. What is really wrong with MEC?” Chilima told party supporters.
Chilima has also spoken out against the ruling DPP for claiming it won the disputed elections.
Telling supporters Chilima said that if the party had won the elections, it wouldn’t have abandoned Everton Chimulirenji, President Peter Mutharika’s running mate in the disputed elections who like Chilima, hails from Ntcheu District.
