PAC chairperson says Malawi to have president by 3rd July

Chairperson of Public Affairs Committee (PAC) Kezzie Msukwa  has assured Malawians that by 3 July they show have new president.

Msukwa made the remarks during an interview with Zodiac radio.

He asked Malawians to get ready and keep their voting particulars safe.

“Malawians should be ready. They should have their IDs close by their suitcases or ward-ropes because there will an election in this country. And that election wills see a president being ushered in out fresh presidential election. By the third of July we will have a president in this country,” explained Msukwa.

The chairperson added that the parliament is expected to meet soon in order to discuss the polling day after Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) set July 2 2020 for the fresh polls, only to change tune that it is not mandated to set elections date, but the National Assembly.

Malawians will vote again for president after High court seating in Lilongwe nullified 2019 presidential election saying it had many irregularities.

Three candidates; President Peter Mutharika, Dr. Lazurus Chakwera and Peter Kuwani will face each other during the presidential polls whose date is yet-to-be known.
