Citizen for Transformation (CFT) leader Timothy Mtambo has hailed Ndirande residents for foiling an attempted violent attack by suspected Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) youth cadets in Ndirande Township on Wednesday.
Mtambo together with members of the Tonse Alliance on Wednesday held a campaign whistle stop tour in the commercial capital Blantyre.
While in Ndirande unknown thugs armed with Pangas attempted to disrupt a violent free rally thanks to residents who apprehended the cadets and handed them to the law enforcers.
In a statement released on Wednesday made available to Faceofmalawi, Mtambo hailed the residents for not manhandling the said suspect despite their ill motive.
“We are greatly indebted to the comrades of Ndirande who resisted and neutralized violent confrontation by agents of thugs who were sent to attack and disrupt our gathering. We are particularly grateful that these agents of thugs were handled in a peaceful manner that ensured protection of their lives. We pray that these thugs live to witnesses the real change of this country for which we are fighting today,” said Mtambo in the statement.
Mtambo has since reminded the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and its bedfellow United Democratic Front (UDF) that Malawi is a peaceful country and all people of Malawi deserve peaceful coexistence.
