Electricity Generation Company (EGENCO) has faulted the novel coronavirus pandemic for continued power outages in the country.
According to EGENCO, the Covid-19 pandemic has compromised production and distribution of electricity hence the continued loadsheding.
Spokesperson for the corporation, Moses Gwaza, has said engineers from Germany are failing to come into the country to commission power machines due to travel restrictions.
According to Gwaza, power production has since reduced to 97megawats only at Kapichira instead of 129 megawatts.
Meanwhile, ESCOM spokesperson, Innocent Chitosi, said they are failing to produce 60 megawatts of solar power machines in Salima because contractors are in China and the machinery are stuck.
