A renowned law professor Garton Kamchedzera has challenged the citizenry and Members of Parliament to find other means of forcing Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah and all the Commissioners to step down.
Kamchedzera remarks came at a time when the commissioners have maintained their position that they will not resign despite numerous calls have been made for them to release MEC.
The Supreme Court agreed with the earlier ruling of the Constitutional court that the commissioners are incompetent owing to electoral irregularities that characterized the 2019 elections.
The public and other stakeholders including the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) have been piling pressure on Ansah and the commissioners to resign.
But the HRDC led anti-Jane Ansah protests have not yielded results.
President Peter Mutharika has also maintained that he will not fire Ansah.
