Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera has said time to save development funds has come.

Chakwera who is also the Torchbearer of Tonse Alliance was speaking during a whistle-stop campaign rallies at Nkhoma, Chowo, Namlamba and Balang’ombe in Lilongwe on Thursday.

According to Chakwera, funds meant for developing the country are continuing being plundered through massive corruption.

He has urged people who lined up the roads, not to only mobilize themselves and vote in large numbers.

Chakwera also challenged people to guard their votes to ensure that vote counting is not messed up.

Chakwera is among three presidential candidates that have been approved by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to take part in the fresh presidential race with the state vice president Saulos Chilima as running-mate.
