Is it sexual attraction or true love?

Where does the difference lie when it all feels so similar at the start of the relationship?

You feel appreciated and loved with the amount of attention your partner is giving you and you don’t question his or her true intentions, even though you should.

Such relationships are highly risky because you might be falling in love but you cannot figure out if your other half feels the same or just loves what you two have going on in the bedroom.

Below is a list of differences between love and lust that might help you understand what you and your partner truly want from each other:

1. You want to spend all night talking

A couple entangled in pure lust can easily stay up all night having a good time, but it won’t be a meaningful conversation that keeps them awake.

People who love each other, however, are just as interested in each other’s minds as they are in each other’s bodies. They can spend hours on end talking while losing all sense of time. They are never lost for words and even if they don’t agree on everything, they are still fascinated by each other’s minds.

2. Your partner is your escape

In a purely sexual encounter, you cannot always count on that person being there for you, especially when you’re going through a rough period in your life. True love gives you a strong level of comfort and protection when you need someone by your side the most. If you can call on your partner at any time of the day and they are there to hold your hand during the most stressful times of your life, her or she obviously cares for you on a deeper level than just lust.

3. You cannot stop thinking about them

It is certainly true that lust can have such an effect on us too, but if you’re only attracted to your partner in a sexual way you definitely won’t be daydreaming about much else than their physicality.

If you’re in love you won’t be able to get that person off your mind, and you will more likely be daydreaming about the plethora of the mental as well as the physical qualities they possess, and sex will not be the main point of focus.

4. Life with them is an adventure

The best thing about love is that it lifts you up and gives you fulfillment. Life is too short to share it with a toxic person who does not help you grow and fulfill your dreams. Being adventurous does not mean going on extreme, life-threatening journeys; it just means sharing moments with a person that makes you feel complete. So whether that means cuddling up together and watching a movie or going for a swim at the beach – just remember to have fun doing it all.

5. You want to meet each other’s friends and family

If you’re only interested in each other for sexual reasons, you won’t care much about meeting each other’s loved ones. However, love means you want to get to know all there is to know about your partner. And you can surely learn a lot about someone by meeting the people in their social circle. And if your relationship develops on a deeper level, their friends and family will become a big part of your life.

If what you have is true love, you will want to build relationships with each other’s friends and family too. It is a crucial part of taking your relationship to the next level.

6. The thought of losing them is unfathomable

While it may sound like a cliché, the thought of being with the person you truly love should be unimaginable. One of the most wonderful things about love is having the chance to be with someone you can cherish and fight for always. Life can be harsh and unpredictable, but having someone by your side to help you find the right way forward is priceless – and that is the person you should never let go.
