A 42-year-old Nigerian man, Josiah Johnson has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly beating his wife, Juliana to death.

According to the police prosecutor, Sgt. Oriyomi Akinwale, the suspect committed the offence on July 3 at Erio-Ekiti in Ekiti West Local government area of Ekiti State.

Akinwale alleged that the husband wanted to make love to the wife, but she rejected for not wanting to be pregnant after seven kids.

According to the Police Prosecutor, the suspect beat the deceased with his fist and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her which subsequently led to her death.

Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code,Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade consequently remanded the accused in prison custody pending the legal advice from DPP’s office.

The case was adjourned to September 12 for further hearing.
