India – Warangal Police have arrested a 24-year-old man for sensational killings of nine people whose bodies were found dumped in bore well last week. The police stated that the accused, identified as Sanjay Kumar Yadav, allegedly murdered the nine people for covering up another murder that he had executed in March.
The police stated that the accused, a native of Bihar, had been living in Warangal for the last six years. He was in a live-in relationship with a woman, identified as Rafiqa. Six people out of the nine deceased were Rafiqa’s kin, natives of West Bengal. The three other men, whose bodies were recovered from the well, worked at the same gunny bag manufacturing unit as Rafiqa’s kin.
On March 6, Sanjay and Rafiqa were returning to Warangal in a train after meeting the latter’s family in West Bengal. Sanjay allegedly strangled Rafiqa over some issue and threw her body out of the train in Andhra Pradesh.
According to a report of The Times of India, the accused allegedly mixed around 60 sleeping pills in the food consumed by the nine persons. After they got sedated, the accused dragged them one by one and dumped them into the bore well located on the premises of a gunny bag manufacturing
After recovering the bodies from the well, police initiated an investigation. While examining CCTV footage, the investigating officials noticed Sanjay on a bicycle late on Wednesday near the gunny manufacturing unit. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the crime. He said that one of Rafiqa’s kin named Nisha was threatening to make a police complaint against him over Rafiqa’s disappearance. Fearing police action, he plotted to eliminate all of them.
The police said that nine people were in an unconscious state after having food laced with sleeping pills. Sanjay dragged them to the well in the wee hours of Wednesday last week and dumped them one by one. They drowned. Moreover, the investigation has also revealed that the accused killed his lover because she learnt about him getting closer to his daughters from the previous marriage.
