Two Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) have appealed to presidential candidates in the fresh presidential elections to guarantee that they will safeguard lives of people living with albinism once voted into power.
Youth and Society and Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) said this during a press briefing in Mzuzu.
According to the two organizations, presidential candidates have been asked to conclude all court related cases regarding the attacks of persons with albinism in the country.
Youth and Society Executive Director Charles Kajoloweka said presidential candidates should commit themselves to deal with human rights violations in the country.
Kajoloweka said there is need to bring all suspects and make public on the report by the commission of inquiry instituted by President Peter Mutharika over the attacks on people with albinism.
Meanwhile, the country has registered 153 attacks on people with albinism with 25 killings since 2013.
