The Supreme Court of Appeal in Blantyre has dismissed Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec)’s application to stay High Court judgment which nullified parliamentary election for Mangochi West Constituency.

Mec had asked the Supreme Court of Appeal to suspend Justice Sylvester Kalembera’s ruling which called for fresh election.

Independent shadow member of Parliament Simeon Harrison dragged Mec to court for erroneously declaring DPP’s Geoffrey Chiwondo Winner.

Harrison’s lawyer Wester Kosamu has hailed the ruling, saying justice has been served.

This means that Mec should proceed and prepare for fresh parliamentary election in Mangochi West Constituency.
