A presidential hopeful in last year’s elections Ras David Chikomeni Chirwa has endorsed Tonse Alliance in the fresh presidential elections which is being led by Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leader Lazarus Chakwera.
Ras Chikomeni who was disqualified in the presidential race by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) in this year’s fresh presidential polls, has said among all the presidential aspirants it is only Chakwera who has shown seriousness that he has a heart of serving Malawians.
Chirwa has therefore asked all his supporters to vote for Chakwera come June 23, elections.
Ironically, after May 21, 2019 disputed presidential elections Chikomeni endorsed Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
Malawians are expected to go to polls on June 23 as sanctioned by the Constitutional Court after it nullified May 21, 2019 presidential elections.
MEC has since approved three candidates for the presidential race namely: Chakwera, Peter Mutharika of DPP and Peter Kuwani of Mbakuwaku Movement for Development (MMD)
Chirwa was one of the presidential aspirants who were turned down by the Malawi Electoral Commission for failing to meet electoral requirements following the nullification of 2019 presidential poll.
