Tonse Alliance has hailed the Malawi Police for providing maximum security during events surrounding the Alliance in Zomba and Mangochi after ugly scenes in Mulanje and Phalombe.
Inna press statement seen by this publication, Tonse Alliance has said what the police did is an act of professionalism hence a need for them to be recommended for good job they have done.
On May 29 convoy belonging to the state vice president Saulos Chilima was stoned by suspected Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadets leaving journalist from Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) injured.
“It was refreshing to see the MPS responding decisively by boosting security at the aforementioned which passed without any incident,” reads part of the statement.
“This I hat is expected of a body that is sustained by is supposed to serve all of the country’s citizens.”
The statement further added that it I hoping to see MPS to continue demonstrating the level of full responsibility and also to “take indiscriminate action on all those who want to limit the exercise of constitutionally guaranteed freedoms by fellow citizens.”
Tonse Alliance supporters have since been urged to join the police in maintaining peace and order ahead of fresh presidential elections and beyond.
