Two people have reportedly bolted from the coronavirus (COVID-19) Mangochi Isolation ward in the wee hours of Monday.
The development comes barely a week after some 10 individuals also escaped from a vehicle at Machinga as they were being transferred to the district from Blantyre.
The reports reaching this publication indicate that the two gentlemen that escaped at the facility were taken from Lilongwe to be quarantined in their home district.
“It is believed that those men who have escaped are among those who have been deported from South Africa,” the source said.
Mangochi district environmental health officer, Dr Kondwani Mamba said he would come back to us after consultations, but his number could then not be reached.
Malawi, has of Monday, recorded 336 cases of COVID-19 with new 52 patients registered on the day.
