United Transformation Movement (UTM) Campaign Director Lucius Banda has vowed to vote for Tonse Alliance torchbearer Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who is also President of the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the fresh Presidential polls.
Banda, a veteran musician and former Member of Parliament for Balaka North said this in a statement posted on his official facebook page.
According to Banda, bad things that some people are spreading regarding MCP during one party reign of Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda cannot persuade him to change his mind on who to vote for.
“Let nobody deceive you about me. I am 100%UTM and ready to vote for Dr Chakwera and Dr Chilima as Tonse Alliance leaders.
“I am not an idiot who can be carried away with the rhetoric of kuipa kwa congress yakale. I saw it, fought against it, and sang about it yes, But the interesting thing is that the people that Did the nasty things are still alive and everyone knows where and which party they are being accommodated in, and they continue doing their evil deeds without fear of the law,” wrote Banda.
He added: “ So bringing me arguments ya Mabala, that song is always a present song. It does not rebuke only one regime, it speaks to the conscious of any leader anytime, that is why we have been singing it even on Tonse rallies.”
“I believe mcp apart from playing my music on mbc in their time, they listened to the songs and learned something and changed. They have become a better party. While you and me were busy thinking of their past, the evil spirit that left mcp went strait into another party that’s why we hear za mfiti zazikazi, mukapanda kuvota mulozedwa, of kuphedwa kwa ajaunju, lule, albino, kuotchedwa kwa Tambala family. Kubedwa kwa ma million. Etc etc.
“Seasons change. People must also change. I also change with time. It has taken me a long time watching our people suffering even kukadakhala kulibe Tonse alliance l would have voted for may be a birthday party.😂😂😂 but not awowo. So stop cheating people i can’t be part of your evil thing.”
Malawi will hold fresh presidential polls on June 23, 2020 and three candidates namely Peter Mutharika of UDF-DPP alliance will battle it out with Chakwera of Tonse Alliance and Peter Kuwani of Mbakuwaku Movement for Development (MMD).
