Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) Chief Elections Officer, Sam Alfandika, has urged the commission’s Master Trainers to be responsible enough and effectively train other temporary Mec staff to avoid making mistakes encountered during the 2019 elections.
Alfandika says the polling staff must be well trained to avoid mistakes such as the use of tippex, which is not admissible.
He made the remarks at the Master Trainers’ orientation currently under way in Blantyre.
According to High Court in Lilongwe, last years elections mate a lot of irregularities which led to nullification of presidential elections after Dr Lazurus Chakwera and Dr Saulos Chilima filed a case.
The High Court ordered that there should be a fresh election after 150 days from the day presidential election was nullified.
