Tonse Alliance torchbearer Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who is also President of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) on Thursday morning cheered Traditional Authority (T/A) Mwamlowe of Rumphi who is reported to be sick at his Palace.
Chakwera was accompanied by former Vice President Khumbo Hastings Kachali who is also President of Freedom Party (FP) and Second Vice President of MCP Harry Mkandawire.
Speaking after the visit, T/A Mwamlowe of Rumphi expressed disappointment that his people are not considered as Malawians, pointing out that successive governments have never considered their request for a road that connects Chiweta Trading Centre to the areas of Mlowe and Tchalo.
Chakwera has since started whistle stop tours in Rumphi ahead of the fresh Presidential polls with a promise to develop the districts.
MCP President will face President Peter Mutharika of the DPP-UDF alliance in the fresh Presidential polls scheduled for June 23, 2020.
The polls follow a court ruling nullifying the May 21, 2019 Presidential polls which saw President Peter Mutharika being declared winner.
