Livingstonia Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian has declared 22, 23 and 24 June, 2020 as days of holiday to allow its staff to vote in the fresh Presidential polls.
This has been disclosed in a letter dated June 10, 2020 signed by the Synod’s General Secretary, Reverend Levi Nyondo seen by this publication.
The development follows the statement from Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) indicating that it will gazette June 23, 2020 as a day for fresh Presidential polls.
Be informed that from 22-24th June, the Synod Office, Departments and Institutions will be closed to allow all people to prepare and vote well.
“Offices shall re-open on 25th June 2020 BUT Voice of Livingstonia (VOL), and Hospitals will not close and those of you who feels have some assignments to do you will be free to go and work,” reads the statement. Please vote well and wisely,” reads in part the statement.
Nyondo has since advised the staff to vote wisely.
Malawi will hold fresh Presidential polls on June 23, 2020 following a constitutional court ruling nullifying the May 21, 2019 polls which saw President Peter Mutharika being declared winner.
Meanwhile Mutharika is yet to accept the court ruling and is doing everything possible to frustrate the fresh polls.
