A 69-year-old man has died in Dowa after committing suicide by hanging himself to the roof of the house.
The deceased has been identified as Mabalani Jamson from Chigawa Village in Traditional Authority Mkukula in Dowa District, confirmed Sub Inspector Gladson M’bumpha, Dowa Police Public Relations Officer (PRO)
“The deceased was staying alone and on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, he left the house to unknown destination and never came back.
On Wednesday, June 10, 2020 when Gule Wamkulu was chasing children, one of the children run and entered into one of the abandoned house and found the deceased hanging himself to the roof of the house.” Explained M’bumpha
M’bumpha said the child reported the matter to his father, who in turn reported to police who visited the scene and took the body to Dowa District Hospital where postmortem conducted established that death was caused due to strangulation and no foul play was suspected.
