Running-mate for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) – United Democratic Front (UDF) Atupele Muluzi yesterday cheered the family of the Usumani Imedi a police officer who was killed last year in Nsundwe, Lilongwe.

Imedi was stoned to death by angry people in the capital Lilongwe, Nsundwe Township following disagreements that President Peter Mutharika planned to hold a political rally in the area arguing that Mutharika is not their president.

Following chaotic scenes that took place, police were deployed at the area to maintained peace and order.

Muluzi who is also UDF president took his time to cheer the bereaved family as he was on campaign trail ahead of fresh presidential elections.

Before visiting the Imedi family, the young Muluzi visited families of Ntcheu accident victims who lost their loved ones, and the young man who got injured in Machinga when police tried to disperse suspected DPP/UDF supporters who were stoning the convoy of the sate vice president Saulos Chilima.

When he kicked off his campaign, the young Muluzi has been using the death of Imedi to demean his opponents on the basis that Imedi was killed because he was a Muslim.
