State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima who is also Tonse Alliance runningmate on Thursday was forced to cancel whistle stop tour in Ntcheu following an accident involving a police vehicle on his convoy.
The accident happened at Khomba in the district after the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate a corner.
United Transformation Movement (UTM) Spokesperson Joseph Chidanti Malunga confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
According to Malunga, 10 police officers sustained injuries in the accident and were rushed to Balaka District Hospital for treatment.
Malunga has since wished the law enforcers a quick recovery.
Chilima was in Ntcheu campaigning for Dr. Lazarus Chakwera ahead of the fresh Presidential polls scheduled for June 23, 2020.
