In the past 24 hours, Malawi has registered 22 new COVID-19 cases, one new recovery and one new death.
The new death, a 70 year old man passed on in Blantyre on arrival at Kameza treatment centre.
Of the new cases, four are health care workers, three from Blantyre, and one from Mzuzu.
Blantyre has registered three more cases, two are still under investigation and one is the new death.
Two cases are from Thyolo and were in contacts to a confirmed case. Kusungu has registered one case with a travel history to South Africa.
Twelve new cases were identified at Mwanza border as they were entering the country, among them, four are from Ntcheu, two from Balaka, two from Machinga, two from Mangochi, one is a Mozambican truck driver, and one is a Tanzanian.
Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 547 cases including 6 deaths. Of these cases, 438 are imported infections and 94 are locally transmitted while 15 are still under investigation.
Sixty-nine of the total cases have now recovered bringing the total number of active cases to 472.
The average age of the cases is 31.7 years, the youngest case is aged 1 year, the oldest is 75 years and 67% are male.
The country has so far conducted 8351 COVID-19 tests in 25 COVID-19 testing sites.
