Former vice president Cassim Chilumpha has reversed his decision of endorsing President Peter Mutharika candidate for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) – United Democratic Front (UDF) in the fresh presidential Elections.

Chilumpha who is also a president for Assembly for Democracy and Development (ADD) announced of his reversed decision on Facebook page after almost a month of ensoraing the candidature of Mutharika.

According to Chilumpha, he has now endorsed the candidaturw of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Lazarus Chakwera who is running the presidential race with the state vice president Saulos Chilima who is also United Transformation Movement (UTM) President.

“This decision has been arrived at after a thourough consultation with ADD members,” said Chilumpha.

He therefore urged people to vote for Chakwera under Tonse Alliance.

However, his decision to endorse Chakwera-Chilima candidature was not well welcomed by others considering that this is not the first time the former vice president has done this.

In his response to criticisms, Chilumpha questioned and mocked those that are saying his endorsement is fake that they should get panadol.

“When i endorsed DPP, tjis page was original. By just endorsingthe winning Tonse Alliance it has become fake? Cadets should get panadol!” He said.

Parliament agreed that on june 23 Malawians should go to polls for fresh presidential elections sanctioned by the Constitutional Court following the nullification of May 21, 2019 presidential elections.
