Emmanuel TV partners donated assorted items to 30 elderly people at Kakungu Village in Traditional Authority Njewa in Lilongwe.
The group’s Lilongwe Chapter chairperson Maurice Matchombe said the gesture was part of celebrating the Nigerian televangelist Prophet TB Joshua’s 57th birthday which falls on June 12.
He said they chose to give to the elderly to give them hope and strengthen their spiritual life through the gifts and the sharing of the word of God.
“It was beautiful to celebrate the birth of our Prophet TB Joshua with our grandparents. They were happy to receive the gifts and listen to the word of God,” said Matchombe.
One of the beneficiaries, Gogo Laiti said the group was directed by God to share with them after seeing their suffering.
“We are weak, we can’t work to find food and we live at the mercy of well-wishers like them. I believe it is God who directed them here,” she said.
Matchombe said as the Lilongwe Chapter was visiting the elderly in the district, other chapters in other regions of the country held similar functions in selected districts.
Apart from visiting and sharing with the elderly, the group also visits prisons, hospitals and orphanages during Prophet TB Joshua’s birthday.
