As the campaign period for the forthcoming fresh Presidential election draws close to the end, songbird Rudo Chakwera and Malawi’s UK based rapper Nic Thindwa have teemed up on a new song “Tipambana” drumming up support for the Tonse alliance which is led by Dr Lazarus Chakwera.

The song is said to be a “Thank You” and also a “Special Applause” to all the nine leaders of political parties forming Tonse alliance for their decision to sacrifice their personal ambitions in order to come together for the goodness of the country.

In the song, the melodic voice of Rudo calls on Malawians that “Mu umodzi muli mphamvu, tikakhala amodzi tidzapambana. Pakhale chikondi pakati pathu, Malawi okomela tonse” a nicely fast paced song that starts in a slow ballad tempo before picking up pace.

This is not the first time Rudo and Thindwa are seen on a political song.

Rudo, who also happens to be a daughter in law of presidential candidate Dr Lazarus Chakwera had another political song which she did with well known Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) supporter and Dancehall artist Anne Matumbi last year Titled “Malawi must be saved”

Rudo burst on the music scene in the 90’s, a daughter of the legendary Jazz artist Issac Mkukupha , she continues her music ministry and has over three albums to her name.

On the other side, the Birmingham based Thindwa recently dropped a number of political themed singles. A well-known supporter of Tonse Alliance, he has endorsed the candidacy of Dr Lazarus Chakwera and Dr Saulos Chilima in most of his latest singles with the latest one being Yalira Ng’oma which he released a few weeks ago.

The latest song Tipambana has been done alongside Thindwa’s longtime music partner Pon G. The Music video for the  song is scheduled to drop on Saturday.
