The country’s grain marketer, Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) requires K50 billion to purchase its targeted 400,000 metric tonnes of maize this year.
Admarc has so far purchased 44,000 metric tonnes only with the K8 billion it was allocated by the government.
The parastatals’ Public Relations Officer Agnes Chikoko is however hopeful that they will meet the target.
Admarc started purchasing maize in April this year with minimum price of 200 Kwacha per Kilogram.
