The Movement for Environmental Action (MEA) has threatened to sue Minister of Environment, Tourism and Wildlife Vuwa Kaunda over his decision to reopen three plastic manufacturing companies that were recently closed by the Ministry.
The movement’s interim leader Mathews Malata said at a press briefing in Lilongwe that the Minister’s decision is against the law.
“The minister must clearly explain why he decided to order the reopening of the factories against a court-backed ban on plastics,” reads part of the statement issued at the press briefing.
They have since asked the Minister to reverse his decision, failing which they will seek court intervention.
