Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Publicity Secretary Nicholas Dausi has alleged that sympathizers of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) attacked monitors belonging to their party.

Dausi made the allegations today during a press briefing that is underway in the commercial city of Blantyre.

According to Dausi at least 8 monitors were abducted by gule wamkulu at Kabudula and Kasiya in Lilongwe.

Dausi has also added that they have filed a formal complaint to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to address the matter with urgency.

He further called on MCP officials to come in the open and apologizes to Malawians for the conduct of their supporters.

Responding to the question if the party will not accept the results of the elections if MEC will not address their complaints, Dausi told the journalist to wait for the official results.

Yesterday, a DPP top official Francis Mphepo issued a statement saying the party will not accept the polls results following acts of violence placed on their supporters in the northern and southern regions
