Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that the President in-waiting Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of Tonse Alliance will be inaugurated this coming Saturday at Parliament building in the capital Lilongwe.

One of the top officials in Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Rhino Chiphiko also confirmed of the development in a facebook post.
“Please, take note that the President elect and Vice President elect will take their oaths of office on Saturday, 27th June, 2020 at Parliament Building to be followed by inauguration on Monday 29th June, 2020 at Bingu National Stadium,” reads in part the statement.
Unofficial results from all the districts in the country shows that Chakwera is leading with 59.4 percent while Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has amassed 39 percent of the votes.
MEC will release official results any day this week.
