Malawi Human Rights Coalition (MHRC) chairperson Reverend Patrick Semphere has said some prisoners did not vote in the fresh presidential elections held on June 23, 2020.
According to Semphere, the prisoners who were released failed to vote because they did not transfer their names.
The commission has also further observed that security was sufficient, polling centers had enough ballot papers, almost all polling centers had enough polling officers but the social distance was not observed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Commission has made several recommendations to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) before announcing the winner.
Among others MHRC has asked the electoral body to address all the complaints presented before them before announcing the official results.
Semphere also added that all political parties must stand for peace and accept defeat and celebrate in a responsible manner.
MHRC has also called on the media to remain profession when disseminating news to the public.
Lastly, the MHRC has since observed that 2020 fresh presidential elections were free and fair.
