Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka has condemned the use of ‘Ana Abusa’ number plates, calling upon the law enforcers to act.
Hours before Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) declared Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as winner of the fresh Presidential polls held on June 23, 2020, the social media was awash with pictures of vehicles with ‘ANA ABUSA’ number plates.
The pictures attracted strong condemnation with many calling for the Tonse Alliance leadership not tolerate such nonsense.
MCP Secretary General also moved in to condemn the malpractice and called upon the law enforcers to act on the matter.
“As Secretary General of the Malawi Congress Party, I will not allow this to happen! We, as Tonse Alliance, fought for better Malawi for all. One of our pillars is respect for the rule of law.
“The police will have to enforce laws on this one!” wrote Mkaka.
Youth cadets for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) also used to travel and attack opponents using vehicles barring number plates of ‘ANA ADADI’.
The number plates were scrapped off from the vehicles after public outcry.
