Nigerian President Muhammad Buhari has said he is ready to work with the newly elected Malawi president Lazarus Chakwera.

Buhari said this following his (Chakwera’s) victory as the country’s state president after the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) declared him a winner on June 27.

“Greetings from the government and people of Nigeria. I congratulate you and the alliance on your impressive victory in the elections,” he said.

According to Buhari, he is looking forward to work with Chakwera for the advancement of peace security and development of the entire continent.

“I look forward to working with you for the advancement of peace, security and development of the entire continent,” Buhari said.

Chakwera was declared a winner in the fresh presidential elections sanctioned by the Constitutional Court on February 3.

May 21, 2019 presidential polls were marred by irregularities according to the court which nullified Peter Mutharika’s presidency who was the winner of the elections.
