Zambian President His Excellency Edgar Lungu has congratulated Malawi’s newly elected Lazarus Chakwera for winning fresh presidential elections held on June 23, 2020.
In a press statement signed by Zambia’s State House press secretary Isaac Chipambe, Lungu said Chakwera’s victory is a symbol that Malawian people have trust and confidence in him.
“Your election is an affirmation of trust and confidence that the people of Malawi have in your leadership qualities,” Lungu said.
Lungu added that Zambia is looking forward to closely work with the newly elected Malawi’s president Chakwera.
The Zambian leader continued that the relationship that the two countries have been sharing will remain intact for the benefit of their people in both countries.
“I therefore wish to take this opportunity to reaffirm my country’s commitment to maintaining strong bilateral relations that our two countries have continued to enjoy, for the mutual benefit of our two peoples,” he said.
Lungu added that Zambia is looking forward to closely work with the newly elected Malawi’s president Chakwera.
