Commissioner of Police Responsible for Operations Dr. George Kainja has been involved in road accident, faceofmalawi can reveal.
The development come barely hours after it was reported that the newly elected President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has fouvered him to replace Duncan Mwapasa as Inspector General of Malawi Police Service (MPS).
This has been confirmed in a police report made available to this publication.
“Damages Only Involving Police Vehicle reg no NS 7922 (MP 2242) Toyota Corolla driven by Commissioner DR George Kainja Research& Planning C/o Police National Hqrs P/Bag 305 Lilongwe. Occurred on 29/06/2020 at Choo1 along Kamuzu Procession Road.
“Facts are that the Compol was driving from the direction of Kanengo heading Area 18 Round about. On arrival at Choo1 in course of overtaking, the front offside tyre got bursed hence lost control of the vehicle which swerved to offside dirt verge and hit the electric pole. Due to impact, the vehicle got it’s front nearside headlamp, lens broken, neardide fender, bonnet and bullbar depressed,” reads in part the report.
It is not yet known is to whether Kainja sustained any injuries or not in the accident.
