Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that Mordecai Msiska has rejected President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s ministerial offer.
Chakwera on Monday released a partial Cabinet where Msika who represented Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the presidential case was appointed as Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
But this publication has been reliably informed that Msiska has rejected the offer.
The reports have also been confirmed by one of the social commentator Onjezani Kenani through a statement posted on his official facebbok page.
“What is this news I’m hearing that Mr. Mordecai Msisha has declined the offer? Did the President consult him before announcing his appointment? If he did not, it’s a shame,” wrote Kenani.
He added: “I hope we have not substituted one form of mediocrity for another. First cabinet minister whose appointment you announce turns down the job. Obviously he was not consulted. The job of president needs to be taken seriously. This masanje type of governing must stop.”
Meanwhile government is yet to comment on the matter.
