A British man has been arrested in on suspicion of stabbing his dad to death, Spanish police say.
The victim, who is also British, is alleged to have been knifed between 30 and 40 times at a home on Wednesday morning.
The son, said to be in his 30s, was arrested at about 10am in Los Abrigos in the southern municipality of Granadilla de Abona of the Canary island.
It is said that neighbours alerted police, who arrived and found the victim’s body.
A Civil Guard spokesman said: “I can confirm a British man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his father, who is also British.”
Local reports claim the alarm was raised after neighbours spotted the suspect having coffee with his girlfriend at the flat, where the it is alleged the incident occurred, with blood on his hands.
The suspect is said to suffer mental health issues, although police said they were unable to make any comment.
