Frontline healthcare workers from Kameza Isolation Centre have stormed Blantyre City Council (BCC) to demand their allowance arrears worth more than K48 million.
According to the frontline healthcare workers, BCC is still holding the money which was to be sent to Blantyre District Health Office by the council’s chief executive officer.
Meanwhile, the healthcare workers have vowed not to leave the premises.
Malawi has so far recorded a total of 1,342 cases including 16 deaths. Of these cases, 640 are imported infections and 639 are locally transmitted while 63 are still under investigation.
