Chewa Heritage Foundation (CHEF) on July 6 will have double celebrations as they will celebrate the inauguration of Dr Lazarus Chakwera who is a Chewa and get together for Chewa heritage Foundation.
Speaking in an Interview, the newly elected Public Secretary for CHEF Southern region youth Chapter Lovemore Katanda said the Chewa will celebrate the inauguration ceremony of Chakwera at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) and get together as Gawa Undi who is Chewa’s Chief will attend the celebrations.
“As the youth in Southern region Chapter we are happy to have double celebrations on July 6 at BICC and we are much excited.”
Katanda further said the celebrations will give an opportunity to Chewas to get to together as there is no Kulamba ceremony this year due to Covid-19.
“We will not have Kulamba Ceremony this year where three countries like Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia meet due Covid -19 and with this celebration, all Chewas will meet together on that day,” he said.
He said after Celebrations on August 1, they will go to Nsanje to meet Paramount Lundu of Chikwawa and Traditional Authority Tengani. Paramount Lundu will introduce the grouping to other chiefs before having picnic at Khulubvi.
The main objective for The CHEF youth Southern Region Chapter include promoting culture, Education and sanitation.
