Citizen for Transformation (CFT) leader Timothy Mtambo has hailed Malawians for voting out of government the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

Mtambo said this during a media briefing held in the capital Lilongwe this morning.

In his speech, Mtambo further encouraged Malawians to unite in rebuilding the nation under the leadership of Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

Mtambo also applauded the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) for facilitating successful demonstrations that led to the ushering in of a new government.

He also recognized the role played by the judiciary and Malawi Defense Force whom he said stood with the people of Malawi when the going got tough.

Mtambo has since asked the new leader to live to the expectations of many Malawians by among other things upholding the rule of law.

Chakwera outclassed former President Professor Peter Mutharika in the fresh Presidential polls held on June 23, 2020 after amassing 2.6 million votes against 1.7 million votes.
