A 30-year-old Malawian man in Chikwawa has been killed by angry mob on allegation that he had stolen fresh beans.

Deputy Public Relations Officer for Chikwawa Police Station Sergeant Dickson Matemba confirmed the incident saying it happened on Monday night at Kalaundi village in the district.

It is said during that night, Feston Sulupi went to steal the beans from the gardens of some villagers in the area where in the course he was caught by community members.

The community members severely beat him. He was taken to the Hospital by well wishers where he died on the way.

Police and medical personnel were informed of the news and confirmed that the death was due to internal bleeding as proved after a postmortem was conducted.

Meanwhile, police have since launched an investigation in the case to bring the perpetrators to book.

Feston Sulupi hailed from Kalaundi village under Traditional Authority Makhwira in Chikwawa District.
