National Bank of Malawi (NBM) has introduced a mandatory use of face masks to all of its customers and clients visiting its banking premises across the country.

The development comes barely hours after the bank closed its Chichiri branch in Blantyre after its staff members tested positive to Coronavirus.

This has been confirmed in a statement posted on its all banking premises seen by this publication.

“We would like to advise that you will be required to keep your mask on all times while on banking premises,” reads in part the statement.

According to the statement, all the customers who will not put on masks will not be assisted in all its premises.

Malawi has so far recorded over 2,300 cases of COVID-19 with over 30 deaths.
