Health officials in Mchinji are expected to proceed with the burial of a Covid-19 victim two days after some villagers had frustrated their job.

A team of health workers failed to bury the body following a misunderstanding with the community who attacked and chased them from Nkhwazi village in T.A. Mabvwere.

The villagers defended their action by claiming that the deceased died of other causes and not Covid-19.

Last evening, director of health and social services in Mchinji Juliana Kamyengambeta confirmed that the body was being kept at the district hospital as her office explored other alternatives.
