An 18 – year – old girl identified as Bridget Namalemba has been electrocuted to death in the Southern District of Mulanje.
The incident happened on Monday, according to police report made available to faceofmalawi.
According to the father, Conex Namalemba, his daughter went to Minimini tea estate to pick firewood.
“While there, she tried to pull a piece of wood using a fresh bamboo. In the process, one branch fell on an electric wire that passed through the trees.
“This ignited electric shock that hit the girl. Due to the impact, the victim died there and postmortem singled out electric burns as cause of death,” reads in part the police report.
The deceased hailed from Bondo village, senior chief Mabuka in the district.
