Former President Peter Mutharika’s security aide Norman Chisale has been re-arrested for assault charges after being granted bail on fraud and money laundering charges.

State prosecutor told the court that Chisale will be taken in custody for the new charge.

Chisale reacted furiously in court saying: “It’s too much. I am a person too and I feel pain.”

Senior Resident Magistrate Violet Chipao said the issue introduced was not before her court and thefore would not comment.

This morning, Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Violet Chipawo granted bail to Chisale after he paid K10 million cash bond and also provided two non-cash surities of 50 million Kwacha each for the first charges of fraud and money laundering.

He was also ordered to surrender his passport and appear to Police Headquarters in Area 30 on Tuesdays every fortnight.
