A man was allegedly attacked with sharp weapons in broad daylight in Tamil Nadu on Sunday morning. The deceased was with his aunt when the incident took place. The man’s aunt is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is said to be in a critical condition.

The deceased man was identified as Vignesh. A resident of Alanganallur, Vignesh used to work at a departmental store but had left his job during the lockdown. He had been working at a poultry farm with his brother.

Vignesh was planning to attend a function in Sikkandarchavady on Sunday and he went to pick up his aunt for the same. While Vignesh was on his way to the function, a group of bike-borne men intercepted him.

The accused men allegedly attacked the 25-year-old man with sharp weapons. Vignesh passed away on the spot while his aunt Jamuna suffered cut injuries on her head, hands and thighs. Jamuna was taken to the hospital where treatment is being administered to her, The Times of India reported.

After being apprised of the case, S Rajendran, Madurai range deputy inspector general of police and district superintendent of police Sujit Kumar reached the spot and launched an investigation to the case.

The Alanganallur police registered a case in relation to the incident. The police said that they are rounding up some of the suspects for interrogation.
