Police in Zimbabwe are on a manhunt for a domestic worker, Jacob Chapanduka on allegation that he murdered his boss Rosemary Ndava.
According to the statement by the police, on the 15th of July at around 2100 hours, the now deceased Rosemary Ndava retired to bed with her grandson a male juvenile aged 5.
The suspect, Jacob Ruben Chapanduka who was under employment as a domestic worker at the homestead, reportedly went retired to his bedroom which is about 20 metres away from Rosemary’s bedroom.
The following morning at around 0700 hours, the now deceased’s grandson woke up and discovered that her grandmother was not in her bedroom.
The grandson is said to have walked to Tambudzai Ebbah’s homestead, a neighbour, who is about 30 metres away and asked the whereabouts of his grandmother.
Tambudzai Ebbah reportedly told the juvenile that his grandmother could have gone to the fields.
After some time towards the end of that day, Tambudzai Ebbah became suspicious after realising that Rosemary Ndava had not turned up and she took the juvenile into her custody for the night.
On the 17th of July 2020, Tambudzai Ebbah allegedly informed the now deceased’s husband Ezekiel Chakauya, a male aged 65 of Kuvarega village headman Kwenda, Chief Neshangwe, Sadza who was in Gweru that his wife and the domestic worker were missing.
Ezekiel Chakauya reportedly advised Tambudzai Ebbah and her husband a male adult aged 86 of the same address to conduct an extensive search of his wife
After the search, on the same date at around 1400 hours, the body of Resemary Ndava was discovered lying on the floor in the room of the domestic worker.
A report was made to authorities who attended the scene and no arrest was made.
The police discovered that the deceased has sustained a cut on the forehead suggesting that the suspect could have used a blunt object to hit the now deceased.
The body was taken to mortuary for post mortem. The suspect in still on the run.
Police investigations are in progress.
Provincial police spokesperson for Mash East Province Inspector, Tendai Mwanza confirmed the murder and appealed to members of the public who may have information on the suspect to come forward and assist the police to bring the perpetrator to book.
