State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima who is also Minister for Economic Planning Development and Public Sector Reforms has called for disciplinary action on parastatal organisations that failed to submit on time Reforms Status Reports requested on 7th July, 2020.

This follows a series of meetings Chilima had with heads of parastatals in Lilongwe and Blantyre earlier this month.

On July 7, Chilima ordered Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of 66 parastatals to submit a Reforms Status Reports before July 17, 2020.

But by July 17, only 56 Parastatals submitted their reports on time, 9 Institutions submitted after the deadline while one institution, which is the Malawi Institute of Management is yet to submit it’s report, 4 days after the deadline.

In statement from the Office of the Vice President signed by its spokesperson Pililani Phiri said Chilima has instructed PS (controlling officers) of Statutory corporations to punish the Chief Executive Officers of these institutions.
