Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, regional Governor for the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has handed himself over to Mzuzu Police this morning.

It is alleged that Ngwira was among the people who masterminded acts of violence that took place in the north which saw a number of people being injured.

For the past days the police instituted a manhunt for Ngwira, but he said he was self-isolating hence could not disclose his whereabouts.

Northern region police publicist Peter Kalaya and Ngwira’s lawyer have confirmed of the development.

However, Kalaya could not immediately disclose information regarding the charges Ngwira is facing.

Meanwhile, former minister of health Jappie Mhango has arrived at Mzuzu Police station to pay Ngwira a visit.
